A Full-Service Offshore Advisory Practice

Mintamint's services cover the complete lifecycle of an offshore structure. We begin with a jurisdictional feasibility study — a written analysis of two or three candidate jurisdictions rated against your specific use case, tax residency, beneficial ownership obligations, and banking access. From there, we manage company incorporation with a licensed registered agent, open and coordinate multi-currency bank accounts across partner institutions in Mauritius, the UAE, or Europe, and provide ongoing compliance support — including annual returns, beneficial ownership registers, and CRS self-certification forms. We also advise on exit strategies when structures need to be wound down or migrated. Each service is quoted separately and transparently; there are no bundled packages that obscure what you are actually receiving.

Our Core Service Areas

Select the service most relevant to your current situation, or speak with an adviser about a combined engagement.

Offshore Structuring

We design holding, trading, and investment company structures across Mauritius, Seychelles, British Virgin Islands, and the UAE. Each structure is mapped to your beneficial ownership profile, income flows, and long-term objectives. Deliverables include a written structure memo, a jurisdiction comparison matrix, and a compliance roadmap — not just a company number.

International Banking

Opening an offshore bank account without the right intermediary is slow and frequently unsuccessful. Mintamint maintains active relationships with regulated banks in Mauritius, the UAE, and select European jurisdictions. We prepare your KYC file, accompany applications, and advise on account structures — whether you need a current operating account, an investment custody account, or both.

Advisory & Planning

For clients who already have an offshore presence, our advisory retainer provides a named senior adviser, quarterly compliance reviews, and a standing brief on regulatory developments affecting your structure. We flag changes to CRS reporting standards, FATF grey-list movements, and any Kenya Revenue Authority guidance that may affect your cross-border arrangements.

Compliance & Reporting

Compliance is not a once-off exercise. Mintamint manages annual returns, UBO register updates, economic substance filings where required, and CRS self-certification renewals across all active jurisdictions in your structure. We maintain a compliance calendar for each client and send reminder notices thirty days before each filing deadline — so nothing lapses unnoticed.

Common Questions About Offshore Services

Straightforward answers to questions we hear from Kenyan investors before and during the advisory process.

Is holding an offshore company legal for a Kenyan resident?

Yes, subject to Kenya's foreign exchange controls and Capital Markets Authority rules. Kenyan residents may hold foreign companies and bank accounts, provided they comply with reporting obligations — including disclosure of foreign-sourced income to the Kenya Revenue Authority. Mintamint structures are designed to meet these obligations from the outset, not retrofit compliance after the fact.

Which offshore jurisdiction is best for my situation?

There is no universal answer. Mauritius offers strong double-taxation agreements with several African states and a well-regarded financial services regulator. The BVI and Seychelles are widely used for holding structures where DTA access is less critical. The UAE has become attractive for operating companies. We provide a written jurisdiction comparison as part of every initial engagement so you can make an informed decision.

How long does it take to set up a structure and open a bank account?

Company incorporation in Mauritius or Seychelles typically takes two to four weeks once all KYC documents are in order. Bank account opening takes longer — generally six to twelve weeks depending on the institution and the complexity of your business activities. We set realistic timelines in writing at the start of every engagement.

What documentation will I need to provide?

Standard KYC requirements include certified copies of your passport, proof of residential address, a source-of-funds declaration, and a description of the intended business activity. For corporate clients, we also require constitutional documents and a beneficial ownership declaration. Mintamint provides a detailed document checklist specific to your target jurisdiction before you begin gathering anything.

Does Mintamint provide legal or tax advice?

Mintamint is an offshore structuring and compliance advisory firm, not a law firm or accounting practice. We provide substantive, experience-based guidance on structuring and compliance, but formal legal opinions and tax filings should be handled by licensed professionals in the relevant jurisdiction. We maintain referral relationships with qualified lawyers and tax advisers and can coordinate these where needed.

“The quarterly compliance review Mintamint runs for our BVI holding company has already flagged two regulatory changes we would have missed entirely. Their written briefings are concise and clearly explain what action we need to take. It is advisory support that actually functions as advertised.”
